Congjun Yu

Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry

Congjun began his academic career in chemistry at the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC), where he worked under the supervision of Professor Guozhu Zhang on gold catalysis and asymmetric synthesis. He then pursued his Ph.D. at RWTH Aachen University in Germany with Professor Frédéric Patureau, graduating summa cum laude. His doctoral research encompassed several areas, including cross-dehydrogenative coupling, electrochemistry, and photochemistry. He subsequently joined Professor Guangbin Dong’s research group at the University of Chicago as a postdoctoral researcher, where he shifted his focus to inert bond activation and selective hydrogenation. In 2025, he began his independent career as a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder.
